The check me out challenge is a series of 6 questionnaires, focussing on 6 key areas of wellness in our lives. The challenge is based on the well-known coaching tool, “The Wellness Wheel”, originally developed by the esteemed Zig Ziglar.
I have done similar exercises myself over the years and found the visual representation of the outcome to be extremely impactful. While it is not based on a scientific formula and the questions may vary in relevance, the idea is to identify areas of strength and weakness in our lives.
The questions are fairly general and aimed at raising awareness rather than identifying specific issues. For this reason, you will find that some may be quite vague and are by no means comprehensive. We cover more detailed questions in the safety of a coaching or mentoring session.
You may complete the questions in any order you wish. Each questionnaire is out of 20 or 25.
Answer the questions as honestly as you can. The answers are for your eyes only and will not be seen by anybody else unless you choose to share and discuss them with somebody.
- Self (development)
Each PDF is attached to the bottom of this post, with an explanation to go with it. Some explanations are more concise than others, depending on how much explanation is required.
Do the questions at your own pace, either at one time, over a couple of days or even weeks, it is entirely up to you. However you decide to do it, make sure you set aside enough time to give the questions careful consideration. There is no rush.
Once you have completed the questions, add up the scores on each sheet and convert each answer to a percentage. In other words (20 x 5) or (25 x 4) By the end, you will have 6 values out of 100.
Plotting and interpreting the values
Finally, take each value and plot it on the Wellness Wheel attached to the bottom of this post. It is best to print it out so that you can color it in and stick it somewhere visible. Ix segment of each slice is = 10% or part thereof.
For example, if you got 50% for health, fill in 5 segments of the “Health” slice and so on.
Once all 6 values have been plotted you will be able to see a graphical representation of all the areas in your life.
Obviously, we want to have as round and balanced a wheel as possible but the reality is that this is seldom the case.
How smooth and balanced is your wheel? You want to see as smooth a wheel as possible rather than an uneven one. The good thing is that the wheel also shows where you can maybe make some adjustments to balance things out a bit more.
